IUVO - The wearable cognitive robot for the functional assistance of lower-limb motion is an innovative research project, funded by Fondazione Pisa. The global goal of IUVO is the design, development and experimental validation of a wearable robotic device for lower-limb motion assistance.

It aims at progressing the state of the art of active wearable orthoses for lower-limb motion support, by designing a device which pursues system efficiency at three different levels:
1) user metabolic efficiency;
2)user cognitive efficiency; and
3) robotic system energetic efficiency.
The project started on April 2013 and is coordinated by Nicola Vitiello, The BioRobotics Institute, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.

Duration: 36 months
Cost: 975 K euro
Partners: National Research Council, Institute of Clinical Physiology, Pisa
